Setting up your VPN (Virtual Private Network)
for Remote Network Access by all PC users.


Create you own VPN to accommodate the needs of remote employees and distant offices.  Each remote member of your network can communicate in a secure and reliable manner using the Internet as the medium to connect to the private LAN. A VPN can grow to accommodate more users and different locations much easier than a leased line. In fact, scalability is a major advantage that VPN's have over typical leased lines.   Here is all you need: 
On Your Office Server PC:
1. Set up a LAN (local area network) via wired or wireless Host Router connected to the Internet via DSL, cable modem, T-1 line.
 
2. (Add if you have a Network, or Start with if you don't have an existing Network) a VPN-enabled Router with Firewall (supporting IPSec tunneling) - price range from $80 to $130 and up available in computer stores (CompUSA, Circuit City), via the Web (search term 'VPN Router') or your local Computer Consultant.
3. Buy/install a VPN Client software (used to administer all remote user accounts connecting to your Host Router IP address with password).  VPN software solutions are scalable from 5 to thousands of users and available in computer stores, via the Web (search term 'VPN Client Software') or your local Computer Consultant.
On All PC/laptops Used Remotely:
 1. Each requires Internet connectivity to access your office's LAN using any Internet connection via a hotel, hotspot or wireless Internet card from Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, etc.; or an 'Air Card' (for use in remote locations) that uses the cell phone network of Verizon, Cingular, Altel, Nextel/Sprint or Suncom).    
 
2. Install the same VPN Client software on all PC's requiring remote network access to the Office server.  Then click on the VPN Client icon on the desktop and establish a secure connection to the Host Router, that allows users access to the Office Network/LAN including email, EZConstruction Manager and other applications.
